She moved back to the mainland in 1969 and went to work at American President Lines in San Francisco, where she met her late husband, Bruce Seaton. They married on Hawaii Island in October of 1974 and lived in Belvedere and then Tiburon for a total of 50 years.

Joyce and Bruce traveled extensively both for Bruce’s work and on vacations. Their destinations included Europe, the Middel East, Hong Kong, China, Tahiti, and Singapore.

Some of the best family memories are holidays with Joyce and Bruce at their homes in Belvedere and Tiburon. She loved gardening, both indoors and out, and especially loved her cymbidiums and white orchids. Joyce always made root beer floats for her grandchildren and then for her great grandchildren when they visited. Joyce and Bruce hosted their grandchildren and great grandchildren for weeklong summer visits, which often included tennis and sailing lessons.
