Gaels roll to big win in opener

Matthew Dellavedov­a scored 20 points and Stephen Holt added 12 to lead St. Mary’s to a 95-69 victory in its season opener against Sonoma State in Moraga on Saturday night.

Brad Waldow and Mitchell Young added 11 points each for the Gaels.

Will Olsem scored 15 points and Patrick Scott 12 for Sonoma State.

The outcome was decided quickly.

Dellavedov­a hit two three-pointers as St. Mary’s jumped to a 10-0 lead, and the Gaels led 18-3 after five minutes.

Santa Clara 106, Simpson 66: Kevin Foster scored 27 points and hit 7 of 15 shots from three-point range as the Broncos crushed the visiting Red Hawks.

PAC-12 Oregon 83, Northern Arizona 73: Tony Woods scored 14 points as the host Ducks won their opener.

WOMEN #6 Kentucky 90, Delaware St. 50: A’dia Mathies scored 16 points, and the Wildcats routed the visiting Hornets.
