Florida survives by blocking punt in final seconds

Florida players jumped around on the sideline, then rushed the field in celebratio­n.

It was more like a collective sigh of relief.

The seventh-ranked Gators staved off the biggest upset in school history Saturday, but couldn’t get the help needed to win the SEC’s Eastern Division.

Jelani Jenkins returned a blocked punt 36 yards for a touchdown with 2 seconds remaining, capping the comeback and giving Florida a 27-20 victory against visiting Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Gators (9-1) needed Auburn to upset Georgia later in the day, but the Bulldogs won 38-0 and clinched a spot in the league title game.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (5-4) led 20-13 after Alonzo Harris’ 2yard run and a blocked punt for a touchdown.

PAC-12 Barkley leads USC past Arizona St.

Marqise Lee caught 10 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, Curtis McNeal rushed for 163 yards and two more scores, and No. 21 USC bounced back from consecutiv­e losses by beating visiting Arizona State, 38-17. … Matt Barkley threw for 222 yards and three TDs while becoming the leading passer in conference history for the Trojans (7-3, 5-3). … Taylor Kelly passed for 174 yards and Alden Darby returned an intercepti­on 70 yards for a touchdown for the Sun Devils (5-5,

36: Brett Hundley was 18-of-21 for 261 yards and three touchdowns as the Bruins (8-2, 5-2) picked up the road win over the Cougars (2-8, 0-7). … All of Hundley’s touchdown passes came in the second quarter, when UCLA outscored Washington State 30-0. … The Bruins led 37-7 and 44-14, but the Cougars scored the game’s final 22 points before failing to convert an onside kick with 1:31 remaining.

Arizona 56, Colorado 31: Ka’Deem Carey ran for a Pac-12 record 366 yards and scored five touchdowns for the host Wildcats (6-4, 3-4). … Nick Hirschman was 12-of-13 for 123 yards with one intercepti­on for the Buffaloes (1-9, 1-6).

Washington 34, Utah 15: Keith Price threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Huskies (6-4, 4-3) became bowl eligible for the third straight season. … Bishop Sankey finished with 162 yards on 36 carries for Washington. … The Utes (4-6, 2-5) remained winless on the road.

TOP 25 Kansas St. gets its 10th win at TCU

Collin Klein ran for two touchdowns, and No. 3 Kansas State bolstered its national title hopes with a 23-10 victory at Big 12 newcomer TCU. … The Wildcats improved to 10-0 for only the second time under coach Bill Snyder, and moved within two wins of probably reaching their first BCS championsh­ip game. … TCU (6-4, 3-4 Big 12) didn’t take advantage of Klein’s intercepti­on on the fourth play of the game. #4 Notre Dame 21, Boston College 6: Everett Golson ran for a touchdown and threw for two more as the Fighting Irish (10-0) kept their national championsh­ip hopes intact. … Golson completed 16 of 24 passes for 200

yards, connecting with Troy Niklas for a 7-yard touchdown at the end of the first half and with John Goodman from 18 yards out early in the second. … Chase Rettig completed 27 of 34 passes for 247 yards for host BC (2-8).

#14 Oklahoma 42, Baylor 34: Landry Jones threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns and Damien Williams ran for 99 yards and two scores for the Sooners (7-2, 5-1 Big 12). … Lache Seastrunk ran for 91 yards and three touchdowns for the visiting Bears (4-5, 1-5 Big 12).

#18 Nebraska 32, Penn State 23: Taylor Martinez threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Turner, and the host Cornhusker­s (8-2, 5-1 Big Ten) overcame a double-digit second-half deficit for the fourth time this season. … The Nittany Lions (6-4, 4-2) looked ready to regain the lead, but tight end Matt Lehman fumbled into the end zone and Nebraska recovered.

#19 Texas 33, Iowa State 7: David Ash passed for 364 yards and two touchdowns, and the host Longhorns (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) honored former coach Darrell Royal with a win. … Texas paid tribute during the game to Royal, who died Wednesday at age 88. Texas lined up in the wishbone, the formation Royal introduced to college football in 1968, on the Longhorns’ first play. Instead of a run, Texas ran a trick play that resulted in a 47-yard pass. … Steele Jantz passed for 133 yards for the Cyclones (5-5, 2-5). #19 Louisiana Tech 62, Texas State 55: Kenneth Dixon ran for four touchdowns to set a single-season NCAA freshman record, and the visiting Bulldogs (9-1, 4-0 WAC) scored on all but two possession­s. … The Bobcats (3-6, 1-3) scored a season high in points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the record-setting efforts of Dixon, who set single-season records for rushing touchdowns (24) and total points (150) by a freshman.

#24 Rutgers 28, Army 7: Brandon Coleman caught his second touchdown of the game on a 31-yard pass from Gary Nova with 8:49 to play, and the host Scarlet Knights (8-1) survived. The Cadets (2-8) could not overcome three lost fumbles, a dropped touchdown pass, two blocked field goals and three late game-changing miscues.

#25 Texas Tech 41, Kansas 34: Running back Eric Stephens threw a 3-yard jump pass to Darrin Moore for a touchdown in double overtime to lead the host Red Raiders (7-3, 4-3 Big 12). … The Jayhawks (1-9, 0-7 Big 12) came from behind in the fourth quarter and sent the game into overtime on a 32-yard field goal by Nick Prolago.

BAY AREA Fales throws 4 TDs in San Jose St. rout

David Fales threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns and San Jose State rolled to a 47-7 victory over host New Mexico State. … The Spartans (8-2, 4-1 WAC) started putting points on the board early, as Fales and Chandler Jones collaborat­ed on two scoring passes in the first half. … The Aggies (1-9, 0-5) finally got on the scoreboard with 42 seconds left in the game on a 9-yard pass from Travaughn Colwell to Trevor Walls.

Butte 31, CCSF 21: Andrew Spivey went 24-of-44 for 309 yards and two touchdowns, but the host Rams still took their first loss of the season. … CCSF (9-1) wins the conference title because of a tiebreaker over the Roadrunner­s (9-1) and moves on to the Northern California playoffs Nov. 24.
