Edward (Eddie) E. Fernandez

Eddie passed away after a lengthy illness with his family by his side.

Born in Manila, Philippine­s to Major Edward F. Fernandez and Amanda R. Fernandez. After WWII, his family was stationed at various US Army posts. Graduated 1955, Pittsburg HS, CA. Later enlisted in US Army; stationed at Ft Bragg, Ft Bliss and in 1959 Grafenwoeh­r, W. Germany.

In 1962, Auerbach Germany, married his lovely wife Margareta Eckert. Honorably discharged in 1963, moved to San Francisco with his family; completed his BS in Electrical Engineerin­g. In 1965, worked for Boeing in Seattle, then 1969 back to San Francisco, working thirty-three years in the railroad industry: Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and eventually retired with Balfour Beatty Rail.

Active Mason with: Phoenix Lodge No. 144, San Francisco Scottish Rite of Freemasonr­y, Asiya Shriners San Mateo, Rod & Gun Shrine Club San Francisco, Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 004 and Order of the Eastern Star San Francisco.

Survived by his wife of 52 years Margareta; children Angela, Robert and Richard; daughter-in-laws Okja and Lydia; grandchild­ren Brandon, Jasmine and Christophe­r.

Family and friends are welcome to attend his memorial on Thursday October 23, 2014, 6:30pm at Phoenix Lodge: 2400 14th Ave San Francisco. The burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma CA on Friday October 24, 2014, 11:00am.
