Robert MacLeod Cole

-

On Friday October tenth Robert MacLeod Cole passed away quietly and comfortably. We, his entire family, lost a man we loved honored and respected.

Bob was born in Oakland on January ninth 1926 to Frances and Robert Cole. The family moved to Piedmont when Bob was ten years old. Except for his service in the US Army Air Corps, and his recent illness, Piedmont was his home. He attended UC Berkeley, joined Sigma Nu fraternity, graduating with a BS degree from the school of business. In 1948, while at Lake Tahoe, he met Jinny, and two years later, they married in her hometown, San Francisco. The family business was waiting for Bob. After graduation, he became manager and later owner. He incorporated the business in 1971 as “Cole’s Pure Honey Co. Inc.” His oldest son followed his Dad as manager and owner. Bob was also a longtime member of the Board of Mountain View Cemetery.

Upon retirement, Bob and Jinny traveled in Europe, Asia and the Greek Isles but came back many times to London and Maui, their favorite places. Retirement gave Bob time for tennis, a little golf and his favorite game of dominoes in the President’s room at Claremont Country Club.

In 1984, it was decided after the birth of their first grandchild Heidi Lee, that their growing family needed a house on the beach. Stinson was the place for the little ones to grow up. The house was right on the beach, it was cozy, and everyone loved it.

Love of family was the most important part of Bob’s life. He leaves us, his wife Jinny, his sons Bob and Bill, his daughters-in-law Dana and Lisa, and last but not least, his grandchildren, Heidi and her husband Mike, Selby, Troy, Annie, and Drew with wonderful memories of his kindness, compassion, wisdom, generosity, and most of all, his great love.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances could be sent to Vitas Hospice, 355 Lennon Lane, Suite 150, Walnut Creek, CA 94598 or to your favorite charity.
