Marion Rita Spadoni

-

Marion Rita Spadoni (Babe) passed in peace on October 14, 2014 in her Burlingame home at the age of 95 while surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Angelo Dante Spadoni, to whom she was married for 49 years. Marion was born in San Rafael to Anna and Raymond Dericco. She was the youngest of four children: Eleta, Elliott and Dorothy Leonida (Dolly) who preceded her in passing.

She leaves her son Kenneth and his wife Mae June, daughter Judith, son Robert and his wife Maryann, daughter Marian, daughter Suzanne and her husband Peter Campanile. Her nephew, Raymond Picone, now deceased, was also a cherished member of Marion’s immediate family. She was the loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. One of Marion’s greatest joys in life clearly was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In her role as the Spadoni family matriarch, she still found the time to lead Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, teach Catechism, and coach girls softball at St.Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Burlingame. An avid golfer, she played regularly at San Mateo Muni (now Poplar Creek) and could also often be found playing Pedro (cards) with her numerous friends at the San Bruno Senior Center.

Her other great passion was San Francisco Giants’ baseball and she was what friends and family regard as a “Gamer Babe.” Marion was renowned for her generous hospitality, as she was a warm and gracious hostess for countless gatherings of family and friends.

A Rosary will be held St. Bartholomew Church in San Mateo on Monday, October 27th at 10 a.m.
