St. Mary’s needs 2 overtimes to get by pesky San Diego

Brad Waldow scored 22 points and Desmond Simmons sank a key three-pointer to lead St. Mary’s to a 69-62 double overtime win over San Diego on Saturday.

In the second OT, Waldow’s layup and Simmons’ three gave the Gaels a five-point lead with 3:48 left.

St. Mary’s (19-6, 11-3 WCC) blew an 11-point halftime lead but got a three-pointer from Aaron Bright with 13 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 56-56 and force overtime. Neither team scored during the first overtime until Bright, who finished with 15 points, sank a basket with 1:14 left. San Diego (14-13, 7-8) tied it at 58-58 with a jumper from Duda Sanadze, who was fouled but missed the free throw. Wyoming 77, San Jose St. 60: Josh Adams scored a seasonhigh 26 points and added seven assists and six rebounds for the host Cowboys (20-6, 9-4 Mountain West). ... Rashad Muhammad had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (2-22, 0-12).
