Else Perkins-Martin of Pacifica, California, passed on from this world Sunday, 18 January, 2015. She was born on March 13, 1938 in Celle / Hannover Germany to Helene Herbst and Heinrich Rothenbucher and was lovingly raised by her mother and father. Else immigrated to the US in 1958 and settled in San Francisco in the 60’s. She retired from Pacific Telesis (Pac Bell) after a long and illustrious career as an Engineer in systems and networks in 1987.

Else was a devoted sister and endearing friend to many over the 76 years of her richly lived life. She was a dedicated animal lover and caretaker of many geese, ducks, and other birds, especially in her beloved Golden Gate Park’s Arboretum.

She was a passionate traveler and enjoyed cruising particularly, meeting many friends and seeing many incredible places on her journeys. She enjoyed sharing her travels and stories with others. Else was also an accomplished singer in the German Club and often had solos and sang in the Operetta, “ich bin die Christel von der Post” and regularly patronized the SF Opera.

Else’s love and joy for life and her indomitable spirit will be sorely missed by many. Her family and friends who loved her throughout the years will especially miss her elegant charm and wit, along with her complete sincerity.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her partner, Denis Levesque of Maine, in 2006. Surviving is her dear sister Renate, and brother in law, Rudy Thaler, of San Francisco, CA. A private memorial service will be conducted under the auspices of the Neptune Society.
