-

Marvin McCray (a.k.a Mac) lived his life with a passion for travel and business. Born in South Dakota to parents Marvin and Laura; Mac’s father, a Naval captain, was stationed during his adolescent years in American Samoa. From this experience, Mac gained a love of travel and interest in different cultures from around the world. After living in American Samoa, Mac returned to the US and lived on a ranch in Lakeside near San Diego. Mac graduated with a degree in archeology from UC Berkeley. During his time at UC Berkeley, he met his future wife, Barbara. After graduating from UC Berkeley, Mac enlisted in the Navy as an Ensign; and the Navy sent Mac to Harvard Business School (HBS). During his studies at HBS, Mac and Barbara were married on September 6, 1941. Shortly after graduating from HBS, Mac and Barbara were stationed in Hawaii and they were on the island when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Mac went on to found and be the president of Wespac Corporation in 1954. Mac loved his business and worked 5 days a week until he was 85. A true globe trotter, Mac traveled the world with his wife Barbara; together they visited all of the continents except Antarctica. An original foodie, Mac enjoyed playing bartender to his family and friends at his house before treating them to dinner to celebrate special occasions. Mac is survived by his daughters Sherrill and Linda; grandchildren Kristy and Ryan; and great grandchildren Jack, Abigail and Harper.
