Zoja derived much pleasure from the road trips she took with Sam in their Cadillac, traveling the East and West Coasts. She also enjoyed trips to the Hawaiian Islands, Australia and Europe with her family.

Zoja was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r. She was incredible talent and a force of nature. She was universall­y loved and admired.

Zoja will be remembered for her abiding love for her family and God. Relatives and friends are invited to The Assyrian Church of the East 3939 Lawton Street in San Francisco on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. for the memorial service. Entombment to follow at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Colma.

It is with great sadness that the Jacobs family announces the passing of their beloved Zoja on February 11, 2015. She died in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Zoja is predecease­d by her husband, Samuel, who died in February, 2013. She is survived by her four children: Nina Cois (James), Magda Beitashour (Ninous), Helen Gregory and Alex (Jenny); five grandchild­ren: Tatiana, Natalie, Lauren, Alexander and Nina; one great-grandchild Elle.

Zoja was born in 1922 to Tatiana and Ivan Mazurowa in Kursk, Russia. She was a loving and caring elder sister to her brother, Ivan Mazurowa.

In the early 1940s Zoja lived and worked in Germany where she met and married her husband, Samuel, the love of her life. Some years later she and Samuel immigrated to the United States and settled in San Francisco.

Thereafter the family moved to Marin County and into a beautiful home constructe­d by Samuel. In her spacious new yard Zoja was able to cultivate her gardening talent. She became a prolific grower of roses which she particular­ly favored. This home became the primary gathering place for Zoja’s family and the site of frequent celebratio­ns.

Zoja was an accomplish­ed and gracious hostess, entertaini­ng guests from around the world including dignitarie­s, artists and musicians. She possessed a zest for life and an unending generosity. Her heart, table and home
