Joel Frank Salamanca, age 38, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was born on September 15, 1976. He was a native son to The City of San Francisco; California, a resident in the quiet confines of the outer-Mission District.

He is survived by his mother, Prosperida­d Salamanca; his sister, Jade Padre (Rudy); two nephews, Logan and Dominic Padre; aunts, uncles and other loving relatives residing in the Bay Area and the Philippine­s.

Joel graduated from Balboa High School in 1995 and attended City College of San Francisco. Afterwards, he found a career in customer service, working for Macy’s, Duggan’s Serra Mortuary and Kohl’s. He enjoyed local profession­al sports and was a true Bay Area Team fan, attending games for the 49ers, Golden State Warriors and his beloved Giants. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus with the Church of the Epiphany, Council 11033. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports and spending time with friends. He had a very kind heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends may visit Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 3pm to 9pm and are invited to attend a Vigil Service 7pm at DUGGAN’S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Epiphany, 827 Vienna Street, San Francisco on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends. Burial to follow at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma.

Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Via West Services (call (408) 243-7861, Jacqueline Forsythe), providing Bay Area camping services for special needs children.
