NEW MOVIES

- — Leba Hertz

Goodnight Mommy: In this horror movie from Austria, mommy gets a makeover, and her twin sons don’t recognize the face that appears after her cosmetic surgery. The Green Inferno: Eli Roth directs this Chilean movie that is inspired by such movies as “Cannibal Holocaust” (1980). Nuff said. The Intern: A 70-yearold widower played by Robert de Niro gets an intern position at a fashion site. The founder of the company is Anne Hathaway. Wonder what the “Fashion Police” have to say about this? Meet the Patels: A comic documentary about Ravi Patel, an almost-30-year-old Indian American who enters into an unusual love triangle. Hotel Transylvania 2: The monsters and vampires are back in this animated film written and starring the voice of Adam Sandler (Dracula). A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence: The title appears to be metaphorical. Two novelty salesman in this Swedish movie take a tour of the human condition in reality and fantasy. Racing to Extinction: Director Louie Psihoyos, whose 2009 documentary “The Cove” exposed abuse of dolphins, now looks man-made mass extinction. Sicario: From director Denis Villeneuve comes this crime thriller that takes place on the Mexican border. Emily Blunt is an FBI agent who along with a joint task force goes after a drug lord (Benicio del Toro). Stonewall: Roland Emmerich makes a 180degree turn from his disaster movies (“Independence Day,” “White House Down”) to direct this fictional drama about the 1968 Stonewall riots in New York City. Wildlike: A teenage girl goes to live with her uncle in Alaska, and when things go sour, she goes on the run into the interior and finds an unlikely father figure.
