Reclaiming rainwater for use in the home
Water recycling systems, fairly commonplace in Australia, have yet to catch on in California. Here is an example of how a typical home-based system works:
1 Rainwater flows from the roof into gutters and through Downspouts and is Collected in a Debris-screening storage tank.
2 The water flows into two 1,300gallon reservoirs made from thick rubber. These tanks are Designed to be stored in the crawl space underneath the floorboards of the house, so no Digging is required to install them.
3 The water is pumped up from the reservoirs and through a series of progressively finer filters that screen the water into a potable state. This water can then be used in the kitchen and bathrooms or to water lawns and gardens.
