Gloria Frances Rich Hendricks passed away Sept. 16, 2015 at her home at the San Francisco Towers. She was born June 22, 1913 in Burley Idaho. Daughter of Mildred Forgeon and Samuel Grover Rich. She was very proud of her pioneer heritage.

The family moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from the University of Utah and was a member of Chi Omega. Gloria later did graduate work at U.C. Berkeley and worked several years in Family Welfare, Foster Home Care and Adoptions in San Francisco and Washington D.C. In 1940 she held a job at the New York World’s Fair with the Ford Motor Co. exhibit.

Gloria sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 3 years with 2 memorable performanc­es at the S.F. Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl.

During World War II, Gloria worked as Director of the Red Cross at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, where she met and later married a 4th generation California­n, Louis E. Hendricks from Oroville. They were married in Salt Lake City on Dec, 28th 1944.

She served on the board of the Edgewood Protestant Home for Children, the Florence Crittenden Home for unmarried mothers, the San Francisco Ballet and the Junior League. She was a member of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America and worked on the preservati­on of Octagon House.

Gloria and Lou traveled extensivel­y to Europe, the Orient, the Middle East and New Zealand. They enjoyed many memorable summers at their fishing cabin at the North Fork Club, on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Idaho.

Gloria lived many years at the San Francisco Towers, where she continued to attend the Symphony, Opera and Ballet.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Lou, her sister Gaylie Brockbank, her brother Samuel Grover Rich and nephews Sam Rich and Grover Rich Brockbank.

She was succeeded by nieces, Gaylie Anne Morehead, Laurie Rich and other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
