Bochy messes with Wotus

On the day after Jarrett Parker’s three-homer outburst, Giants manager Bruce Bochy had some fun with bench coach Ron Wotus. Bochy handed Wotus the lineup card Sunday morning, as usual — but without Parker included.

And the printable version of Wotus’ reaction: “You’re messing with me.”

Yes, Bochy was kidding. He knows better than to bench a hitter the day after he goes deep in triplicate.

Parker started in left field and batted seventh, one spot higher than he did Saturday. Bochy didn’t move the lefthanded hitter even higher, in part, because the A’s sent another left-hander (Sean Nolin) to the mound in the series finale.

As for Parker, he seemed nonchalant about the whole thing — while also acknowledging his power display caused a stir in his native Virginia.

“I heard from most everybody back home, a bunch of different friends,” he said before Sunday’s game. “My phone buzzed a little bit. I had to keep charging the battery.

“It was a cool experience, probably the best game I’ve ever had.”

Parker is making the Giants take notice. He’s 11-for-21 since his promotion from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 11, including two singles Sunday. Parker has six homers and 12 RBIs in 11 games.

This is a small sample size, obviously, but Parker could play his way into San Francisco’s plans for 2016.

“You have to look at what he’s done since he’s been up here,” Bochy said. “It’s been as impressive 20 at-bats or so as I’ve seen from a young kid coming up. He’s intriguing.

“You have to love his power, and he’ll continue to work on his defense in the outfield. He’s making noise. That’s what you want from a young guy.” Pitching plans: Bochy and pitching coach Dave Righetti haven’t nailed down the rotation for the season’s final week. They might reshape things to give some pitchers a muchneeded break.

Bochy did say it’s likely (but not certain) Tim Hudson will make one more start. Hudson lasted only 11⁄3 innings in his matchup with Barry Zito on Saturday.
