Deborah “Deb” Ann Jacobs, a longtime resident of San Francisco, passed away at home on September 2, 2015 after a long battle with toxic chemical exposure.

Deb was born in San Francisco and grew up in Tiburon, graduating with a degree in Industrial Design from San Francisco State University magna cum laude. She was the first woman to earn an A.S. in Avionics at San Mateo Community College. She was employed by United Airlines for 15 years, first as a mechanic and then a manager.

Following in her mother’s tradition, Deb was a lifelong, avid sailor, reaching the finals at the 2002 Sydney Gay Games. She often competed at Cal Sailing Club where she was well-known as a fierce, fearless and fun competitor. She remembers paddling out in her boat to scoop up herring in Raccoon Straits as a child.

Tinkering away in her Glen Park garage led to the development of two patents, one for a medical device and another for an Ergonomically Correct G-Spot stimulator For Womens’ pleasure, both featured in the Wall Street Journal. Many people never knew she was ill. Only those closest would see her bedridden with chronic fatigue after teaching Girl Scouts the basics of sailing at the California Maritime Academy.

Deb was the eldest child of Bruce Shaw Jacobs and the late Roma Jean Marie (Lyons) Noyes of Tiburon, brother of the late Scott L Jacobs. She is survived by first and second cousins and many loving friends.

Her ashes will be scattered at sea and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, October 17. For more information, please send an email to: DebsCelebration@yahoo.com

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Habitat for Humanity or SF Gay/Straight Alliance Network.
