Dianne Carmen Riccomini

-

October 31, 1940 - October 14, 2015

Dianne Riccomini passed away on October 14, at age 74. She was at home, surrounded by family and caregivers. Dianne was born to Pietro and Rosa Riccomini, who both had immigrated to San Francisco from Italy. Dianne was proud to be a native San Franciscan, and equally proud to be Toscana and Genovese. She attended Presentation High School and studied nursing at St. Joseph Hospital. She thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at her 45-year career as a registered nurse in medical offices in Pacifica, San Francisco, Alameda, and Oakland.

Dianne was predeceased by both her parents. A lifelong single, Dianne assumed her mother’s role as the glue and center of her extended family. She was godmother to countless children, and she took her role seriously by being involved in their lives into adulthood. She was open and genial with everyone she met, quickly making them feel that she was their friend. Even when she was undergoing frequent chemotherapy treatments she would leave the infusion center by smiling and waving goodbye to all the nurses and aides and calling them by name. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of many family members and many devoted friends, who will miss her deeply. They will be consoled by vivid memories of Dianne’s generosity of spirit, her cheerful sense of humor, and her unflagging positive outlook on life, even during the very difficult stages of her final illness. Dianne supported and nurtured everyone around her. When the time came for her to be cared for, she was extremely grateful to her loyal caregiver, Marcy, for coming from the Philippines to be with her, and to her adored cousin, Crispina, for coming from Italy to spend time with Dianne during her last days.

Inurnment will be private. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Skylight Mausoleum of the Italian Cemetery, at 540 F St., Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making an honor gift to the Cancer Research Institute (55 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 [www.cancerresearch.org), or to a charity of your choice.
