Reno Manfredi

Of Burlingame, California, died at the Palo Alto VA hospital, in the company of his wife, Vivian, and daughter, Diane, on January 18, 2016. He was 86 years old.

Reno is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian, daughter Diane Manfredi, son-in-law Jason Carver, and grandson Jackson Carver, of Aptos, CA., nephew David Lonich (Linda) of Santa Rosa, CA., niece Denise Rocha (Igor) of Paso Robles, CA., and 4 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgilio and Italia Manfredi of Burlingame, CA.

Reno was born on January 5, 1930, in San Francisco CA. He graduated from Galileo High School in 1948, and in 1951 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent two years in the Army, with a year on the front lines in Korea and a year in Japan. Upon his return, Reno joined the Internatio­nal Union of Elevator Constructo­rs Local No. 8. His career spanned over 40 years installing elevators on high rise buildings in San Francisco.

Reno’s passions included the Shasta Queen, his house boat on Lake Shasta, duck hunting, fishing, archaeolog­y, Native American history, with a special love of animals, and the outdoors.

Reno will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend. He was a lifelong Democrat, an outstandin­g elevator constructo­r, a mentor to his friends and coworkers, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. January 30, 2016, at Chapel of The Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive, Millbrae Ca. 94030. A reception will follow.
