Teenager Taylor Fritz beat Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to reach the Memphis Open final, becoming the youngest American to reach a final since Michael Chang in 1989.

Fritz, 18, from Rancho Santa Fe (San Diego County), already

had made a mark as the youngest American to reach an ATP semifinal since Chang won Wembley in 1989 at age 17.

Fritz will play top-seeded Kei Nishikori — a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner over Sam Querrey — in Sunday’s final.

“It’s crazy what four tennis matches can achieve,” Fritz said.

Rising star Dominic Thiem of Austria knocked Rafael Nadal out of the Argentina Open with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4) victory in the semifinals.

Top-seeded Venus Williams beat Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Taiwan Open.
