Robert Hirsch

-

Bob Hirsch died peacefully in his sleep on February 11th at Rhoda Goldman Plaza in SF. He lived in and loved the San Francisco Bay Area for the last 70 of his 95 years on earth and crowded as many activities and friendships into those years as is humanly possible. Bob was born on August 3, 1920 and raised in his beloved Brooklyn until the Marines took him to the Pacific to help win WWII. While on leave in SF he met the first love of his life, Barbara (Wax) Hirsch whom he married and had two children with: Douglas (Bernie) and Karen (Jim Condit). In 1956 he married Dori and helped raise her two boys: Barry and Brian (Linda) Horwitz. Dori and Bob traveled the world until Dori’s death in 2012. Bob was a businessman, haberdasher, golf and tennis player, thespian, sports fan and… bookmaker; he campaigned for the release of Soviet Jews and volunteered at SF Airport Travelers Aid from 1983 until 2015. He loved musical theater, was a renowned story and joke teller and dazzled his fans with card tricks. Not allowed to call during his favorite show: Jeopardy where he knew all the answers, and of course he was the reigning trivia champ at RGP. He was dearly loved and will be missed by casts of thousands. Bob is survived by10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
