Sharon Griffin Roemer

May 12, 1951 - February 6, 2016

-

Sharon succumbed to a year-long battle with cancer on Saturday, February 6, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Born in Detroit, Michigan to J.D. Griffin and Eileen DeVoe Griffin, she was the youngest of three. Her family moved to Denton, Texas where she attended Denton High School and later North Texas State University.

She got the travel bug early in life and started her career by joining United Airlines as a flight attendant. She met her future husband, Mark, while working on a transcontinental flight from San Francisco to Washington DC. Mark says he knew on that day he was going to marry her. They traveled the world together for several years with their most memorable and favorite destination being Kenya.

Sharon and Mark soon settled in Playa Del Rey, California where they bought their first home together igniting their passion for real estate, architecture and interior design. They later relocated to Piedmont, California to start their family. Sharon instantly became an integral part of the Piedmont and Claremont Country Club communities. She loved golf, tennis, listening to music, going to the movies, traveling to La Quinta and Tahoe and spending time with her husband and kids.

Sharon will be remembered for her humor, selflessness, ease and ability to make people laugh, but to those who knew her most, she was also independent and strong-willed in nature. She had a go-getter attitude and was always master- ing the art of living in the moment. Friends describe Sharon as “one of our nicest Claremont Women’s Golf Captains, a great golfer and tennis player and most importantly an overall wonderful lady and a warm friend to all. Her upbeat personality and endearing smile never wavered even through all her devastating medical treatments and her courage was unmatched. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.”

She is loved and survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Mark, daughters Kerri and Kristi (son-in-law Brent) and son, Brad. She is survived by her sister, JoAnn Bronstad of Edmond, Oklahoma and her son, David Bronstad, and her brother Ron Griffin (wife Mari) of Aurora, Colorado as well as their four daughters, Lindsey, Ali, Courtney and Kendra.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon’s name to the Stanford Lucile Packard Children’s Cancer Center http://supportlpch.org/ways-give) or charity of your choice.

Shar, Sha and Mom, we love and miss you every day.
