Serve the people
Regarding “Polarizing former president plunges into election battle” (Sept. 28): All good wishes to former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide on his return to politics. His 2004 ouster as Haiti’s president was maneuvered by the United States because it did not like his socialist tendencies.
Now that the word socialist is no longer a dirty word here, perhaps the United States will let Haiti have a popular government dedicated to serving the people instead of preserving the elite. Tom Miller, Oakland
