Bay Day to celebrate local resources

- — Kristina Shaw-Krivosh

Save the Bay is encouraging Bay Area residents to come together for its first Bay Day celebration, which aims to remind locals there’s a wild, active bay worth fighting for.

“We want it to serve as a fun day for people from all around the bay to get outdoors and enjoy this wonderful place we all call home,” says Aziza Jackson, editorial and outreach manager at Save the Bay, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving San Francisco Bay and its related estuarine habitat areas.

Bay Day features a series of events Saturday, Oct. 1, at parks and museums throughout the region, including a photography exhibit in Palo Alto and a film screening in Berkeley.

Whether you’re looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint or just want to enjoy the local scenery, Bay Day has something for everyone. For a complete list of events, go to www.bayday.org.
