FOUR DON’T-MISS TALKS
This year’s San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show will include about 50 exhibitors, purveying items big (furniture, art) and small (books, jewelry). Once again, the event will benefit Enterprise for High School Students and will also feature a lecture series. Here are some of the highlights across the four days, all of which involve book signings: Oct. 27, 2:30 p.m.: James Reginato, “Minding Their Manors.” The Vanity Fair writer-at-large has penned a new book about some of Great Britain’s most majestic residences and the families that occupy them.
Oct. 28, 2:30 p.m.: Chara Schreyer and Gary Hutton, “The Modern Eye: Cultivating a 21st Century Private Collection.” Art collector Schreyer — whose five homes are filled with more than 600 works — and interior designer Hutton will explore the relationship between design and art. Oct. 29, 11 a.m.: Suzanne Rheinstein, Madeline Stuart and Steven Volpe, moderated by Carl J. Dellatore, “Point and Counterpoint.” This designers’ panel will focus on the importance of art and antiques in present-day design. Oct. 30, 2:30 p.m.: Janice Lyle, “Sunnylands and Its Surprising Menagerie.” As the director of Sunnylands, the winter residence of Walter and Leonore Annenberg, Lyle offers a unique perspective on the historic site/retreat center near Palm Springs. San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show: Oct. 27-30 at Fort Mason Center’s Festival Pavilion, 2 Marina Blvd. General admission: $15-$20. Lecture tickets: $10 each, in addition to the show admission.
