Bardessono

-

Graced with a serene ambience, vineyard and mountain vistas, and lush, chef-tended gardens, the surprisingly ecofriendly, decidedly epicurean hotel Bardessono creates a delicious dilemma. Should one loll in the comfort of one of the 62 rooms, each with built-in massage table (for private spa treatments), gas fireplace, soaking tub and private outdoor area, perhaps ordering from the exquisitely fresh California cuisine served all day at in-house Lucy? Or should one take advantage of downtown Yountville’s wine tasting rooms and culinary magnets such as French Laundry and Bouchon, a short stroll away?

The answer, of course, is to set aside enough time to do both — just make reservations for dining and lodging as early as possible. You don’t have to walk to town, either; bicycles are at your disposal, along with first-come, firstserve Lexus models. The rooftop pool, open year-round, and openair fitness deck offer additional exercise potential.

Guests are offered a glass of wine at check-in; continue sampling the local varietals at Lucy Bar, which hosts wine tasting on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and happy-hour specials from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursdays. During the Napa Valley Film Festival, you might find a few stars aligned here as well. Luckily for those who can’t afford a stay, the indoor-outdoor Lucy restaurant and bar are also open to the public — consider it a tasting pour of Bardessono.
