Comcast to stream A’s, Giants games

-

Giants and A’s fans who like to watch games away from home — at the supermarket, on the golf course, in a barber’s chair — got some welcome news Thursday.

NBC Sports announced it has reached an agreement with MLB Advanced Media that will allow its regional sports networks to stream major-league games in-market. That includes CSN Bay Area and CSN California.

Starting this season, those

who subscribe to CSNBA and/or CSNCA through a cable or satellite firm can watch ballgames anywhere in the country, including within the Bay Area, on the NBC Sports mobile app.

This option already has been available for Warriors and Sharks games.

— Henry Schulman Major-league home run champion Mark Trumbo and the Baltimore Orioles agreed to a $37.5 million, three-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press. Trumbo, 31, hit 47 home runs last year and became a free agent. He returns to Baltimore after earlier rejecting the team’s qualifying offer of a $17.2 million, one-year contract.

The Miami Marlins traded two of their top pitching prospects to acquire 14-game winner Dan Straily from the Cincinnati Reds for three minor-leaguers, including highly regarded righthanders Luis Castillo and Austin Brice. Straily, a former A’s right-hander, went 14-8 for the last-place Reds last season with a 3.76 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 34 games.

The Arizona Diamondbacks completed their signing of exGiants outfielder Gregor Blanco to a minor-league contract.

Right-hander Josh Johnson, 32, will retire, according to a tweet by ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. Johnson, 58-45 in nine big-league seasons, had signed a minor-league deal with the Giants. He has had three Tommy John surgeries.

Free-agent right-hander Neftali Feliz signed a one-year, $5.35 million contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
