Beavers romp past Utes 70-44

Sydney Wiese scored 17 points and Marie Gulich had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 11 Oregon State over visiting Utah 70-44 in Pac-12 women’s basketball Friday.

Wiese extended her Pac-12 record for three-pointers, making five to boost her total to 323.

Oregon State (17-2, 6-1 Pac-12) finished the first quarter with a 6-0 run to take an 18-14 lead and outscored Utah 21-8 in the second period, scoring the final 11 points.

Utah (13-5, 2-5) missed its first five shots in the third quarter and Oregon built its lead to 58-32 by the period’s end.

Ruthy Hebard had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Maite Cazorla added 14 points as host Oregon (13-6, 3-4 Pac-12) won 71-66 over Colorado (11-7, 1-6). Kennedy Leonard scored 21 points to lead the Buffaloes.

Indiana forward OG Anunoby, who was averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, will undergo knee surgery and will miss the rest of the season, men’s coach Tom Crean said. Anunoby, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, was injured Wednesday.

Fifteen players have been suspended for their roles in a fight during a men’s game last Saturday between Division II programs Lane College and LeMoyne-Owen in Memphis. Police are investigat­ing the incident, which caused the game to be postponed.

Bills WR Watkins has more surgery

Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to be limited until the start of training camp this summer after undergoing a second operation on his broken left foot. Previously, he had two screws inserted into his left foot in April after tests revealed a stress fracture.

The Bills also announced that defensive lineman Shaq Lawson has a knee injury. He is expected to participat­e in offseason activities in the spring.

The NCAA’s Power Five conference­s voted to stop coaches from taking teams off-campus during any vacation period outside a sport’s season for practice. The rule, proposed after Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh took his team to Florida last year, passed by a 58-22 margin. Motor sports: The NASCAR Hall of Fame added five members, as drivers Mark Martin and Benny Parsons and team owners Richard Childress, Rick Hendrick and Raymond Parks were added as the Class of 2017 in a ceremony in Charlotte, N.C. Baseball: Right-hander Trevor Cahill signed a one-year, $1.75 million deal with the San Diego Padres. Cahill was 4-4 with a 2.74 ERA for the Chicago Cubs last season . ... Reliever Joba Chamberlai­n has agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, FanRag Sports reported. Chamberlai­n was released by the Cleveland Indians in July after posting a 2.25 ERA in 20 innings . ... Reliever Jim Henderson has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Cubs, according to SB Nation. He was 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA in 2016 in 44 games with the New York Mets . ... The Texas Rangers signed first baseman James Loney to a minor-league deal, according to multiple reports. He hit .265 with nine homers and 34 RBIs in 100 games with the Mets last year. Skiing: Austria’s Matthias Mayer won a World Cup super-G race in Kitzbuehel, Austria. His time of 1 minute, 11.25 seconds edged that of runner-up Christof Innerhofer of Italy by 0.09 of a second.
