Bess Cook (Marcopulos)

October 23, 1924 - February 25, 2017

Bess Cook, 92, passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ with serenity, grace and acceptance on February 25, 2017 in Santa Fe, NM.

Born Vasiliki Marcopulos she was preceded in death by her cherished parents, George and Maria Marcopulos. Bess is survived by her beloved daughters Genie Valen and Leslie Cook, sonin-law Patrick Singleton, sister Helen Morales, brothers Ernie Marcopulos and Nick Marcopulos, their spouses, 5 nieces, 5 nephews, a loving extended family and close friends.

Bess grew up in San Francisco CA. She graduated from Mission High School in 1942. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Her passion for dance and music led to her first career as Manager of The Academy of Dance and Oakland Metropolitan Ballet Company becoming a “Mother” to many young dancers. She later worked as a professional employment counselor for The Barrows Agency in Oakland CA. and eventually opened her own very successful company, Cook and Weigand Agency. She retired to Santa Fe, NM in 1994 to be with her daughters.

Bess was a true “Queen of Hearts” blessing many with her deep love, We are all so lucky to have been so close to such an angelic soul and she will be missed beyond words.

Funeral Services will be held on March 3rd at 10:00AM at St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 46 Calle Electra, Santa Fe NM 87505 (505) 204-4655 (Priest’s cell) In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Elias Church, steliasnm.org
