Madeline Cozzo

-

Madeline Cozzo was born on February 26, 1920 and passed peacefully on her 97th birthday, February 26, 2017. Her mother was Anna Miroyan and her father was Oscar Minasian. Her mother died when she was 4 years old.

She and her sister Charlotte were put in an orphanage for a year in Oakland, Ca. She lived with her father for a while, but she eventually was taken care of by a Greek family. She helped raise their 5 children and attended Commerce High School. She also worked in a creamery on Mission Street in San Francisco that they owned. That’s where she met Frank Cozzo. He and his father would come in every day to have breakfast. It was love at first sight for Frank but it took a while for Madeline to fall in love. They had many happy years together.

Madeline was a wonderful homemaker and an elegant lady. She made all of her clothes, and children’s clothes. She had her own business taking in alterations. She loved to sew. She also catered weddings with two of her neighbors. Madeline never left the house unless she was dressed to the nines. She turned heads wherever she went. She was very generous, a wonderful hostess, and very sociable. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and always took them to special places. She will be missed by family and friends.

Madeline is survived by her daughter Maria (Tom); son Sal; grandchildren Frank Cozzo, Gia Colosi, Louie Cozzo (Kristine, Katelynn, Cody) Tom Colosi (Armine), Anthony Cozzo and Sal Cozzo, Jr.; great grandchildren Arihanna Cozzo, Dominic Cozzo and Gianna Cozzo, Kyran Colosi and Avian Colosi.

She is preceded in death by beloved husband, Frank J. Cozzo and loving daughter Anna Cozzo.

She is having a private funeral service. We will be having a celebration of her life at a later date, and invitations will be sent out.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you can make a donation to IWMF, 6144 Clark Center Ave., Sarasota, Florida 34238. This is the Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation.
