Denise S. Bradby

-

After a brave and courageous battle, our sister, Denise Bradby, 52, of Emeryville, CA passed away Friday evening. For those that knew her personal story, she was an inspiring beacon of light. She leaves behind a sister, Tanya (Boulder, CO) and brother, Wayne (Chesapeake, VA).

Born in Vicenza, Italy, Denise wore many “hats” throughout her fantastic life. In addition to her professional position as a public policy researcher, she was an artist (designed her own jewelry and many other items), actress (early years in college plays and more recently a public service announcement for transplant patients), chef (an amazing cook always exploring new dishes), volunteer (served on the board of directors of the SF Aids Foundation), adrenaline junkie (sky diver & bungee jumping…only once!), photographer (took stunning pictures from her world travels including Africa, Costa Rica, Canada, Brazil, Europe, and the US), scuba diver (Cayman Island, Aruba, and Hawaii), and loving sister.

Perhaps, most importantly, she was a kind and gentle soul who never met a stranger. Despite her 10-year battle with PAH, a heart/lung transplant in 2013, and a rejection episode in 2016, she remained strong in spirit and an inspiration to everyone she interacted with. She truly believed we are all in this world together and she made it her mission to spread that message of inclusion. Her light will continue to shine through all who knew her.

Per her request, she will be cremated and her ashes formed into a reef ball so that she can continue to be a part of the Earth she loved so much. The family will hold a remembrance celebration at some point in the future.

On behalf of Denise’s advocacy for organ donation, the family would ask that you consider becoming an organ donor. Someone who made that commitment extended Denise’s life. Contact your local DMV office or this link for more information. https://organdonor.gov/index.html

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of her to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. https://www. phassociation.org/Donate/ Information
