Adrienne Sue Cohen died peacefully in her sleep on February 18, 2017 after a long illness. She was 66 years old.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Gertrude and David Cohen, and graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, California. She earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1972 and an Associate’s Degree from Boise State University Nursing School. She lived for a brief time on Kibbutz Mizra Afula in Nazareth, Israel. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Administra­tion Medical Center in San Francisco from 1983 to 1995. She later worked as a sales associate at Nieman Marcus and, through the AmeriCorps program, as a teacher’s assistant at Francis Scott Key Elementary School. She also volunteere­d for many years at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Adrienne is remembered for her love of animals and children, her gentleness, sense of humor, and beauty. She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Marlowe, of Hamilton, New York, her nephew, David Greenberg, of San Francisco, and her cousin, Rochelle Satterfiel­d, of Colorado Springs. Her family members are grateful for the loving care she received at the end of her life from Miriana Saric, and to the devoted friends who took care of her in previous years as well, especially Cynthia Rose and Mike Levinson.
