Carol Jean (nee Lightner) Gibson

Carol Jean (nee Lightner) Gibson passed away peacefully on March 8th2017 from complications of a massive stroke. Beloved wife of Ron Gibson for 38 years and “Light of this last half of his life.” Carol was born in Oakland CA on August 19, 1939 to parents Evelyn and Gale Lightner.

She is survived by Ronald Gibson and was the proud and devoted step-mother to 6 children; Carol Gibson Rogers (Bob Rogers), Connie Gibson D’Aura (Joe D’Aura), Dan Gibson (Mercie Gibson), Katherine Gibson-Swing, Ronnie Gibson (Kelly Gibson), and the late Mark Gibson.

Loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Carol had two careers during her working life: One as a Travel Advisor for TWA Airlines, San Francisco; then as a Cosmetologist/Beautician at the Emporium Dept. Store. Stonestown Mall, San Francisco. Subsequently, she retired as the Manager of the Farroads Travel Agency, Park Merced, San Francisco. Enjoyed traveling widely both in the US and abroad and made many lifelong friends during these trips. Also participated actively with the Members and wives of the Mare Island “Chapter” of the U.S. Submarine Veterans, Vallejo CA. in their various activities.
