Carl Uddo Zachrisson, Jr

Died of natural causes at home in the city of his birth. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Adele, and sons Carl F. and Christophe­r.

Carl was a graduate of Town School for Boys, Lick-Wilmerding High School, and Stanford University. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University.

He taught at Pitzer College and the Claremont Graduate School, then began and ran the study abroad programs at Pomona College.

In the early 80’s he moved back to San Francisco and became the West Coast Director of the Institute of Internatio­nal Education until his retirement. He was involved in many community organizati­ons and headed numerous Boards.

He was an active parishione­r at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church and was a longtime member of the Bohemian Club. He was particular­ly interested in California history and live theater.

He loved well and was much loved. He will be sorely missed. Donations in Carl’s memory may be sent to: the Janet Pomeroy Center - The Brainstorm Program, 207 Skyline Blvd., S.F., CA 94132 or St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church, 2325 Union St., S.F. 94123

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday April 7th at 4pm, St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church with a reception to follow.
