Carl Uddo Zachrisson, Jr

December 4, 1940 - March 10, 2017

Died of natural causes at home in the city of his birth. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Adele, and sons Carl F. and Christopher.

Carl was a graduate of Town School for Boys, Lick-Wilmerding High School, and Stanford University. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University.

He taught at Pitzer College and the Claremont Graduate School, then began and ran the study abroad programs at Pomona College.

In the early 80’s he moved back to San Francisco and became the West Coast Director of the Institute of International Education until his retirement. He was involved in many community organizations and headed numerous Boards.

He was an active parishioner at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church and was a longtime member of the Bohemian Club. He was particularly interested in California history and live theater.

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday April 7th at 4pm, St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church with a reception to follow.
