Stephen passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in the bay area after a time of illness. He was 70. Recently residing in Berkeley, Stephen was born in San Francisco to Charles “Bud” and Jacquie Cohen. He attended Lakeshore Elementary, Aptos Junior High, and Lincoln University. Stephen was a succesful real estate broker for several decades. He was well read and self-taught in many subjects, with a variety of interests which included music, art, and culture. He was a gifted pianist, spoke several languages, and enjoyed European travel. Stephen met many notable people throughout his life and travels and was a raconteur nonpareil. His family and friends will remember him as devoted, caring, and generous. Stephen was an exceptional man with an amazing life.

Stephen is survived by his daughter Julie Cohen and her sons Dion and Devin and daughter Riley; son Lyon, sister Cynthia Cohen, half siblings Sarah Hunt and Joshua Cohen, stepmother Anne Cohen, nephews and nieces, cousins and close friends who miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his father Bud and mother and stepfather Jacquie and Adrian Scharlach.

To honor Stephen’s final requests there will be no memorial service, but everyone that remembers Stephen is asked to celebrate his life in their own way. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in his honor would be appropriate.
