Timothy Francis Foley passed away in his San Mateo home on 3/8/2017. He was born 11/7/1931 in San Francisco CA, and is survived by his sons Patrick Foley (Lisa), Timothy Foley Jr. (Ann), Michael Foley (Ki), and his daughter Joan Russell (Stuart), as well as his 9 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. Tim was a loving father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Joseph and Evelyn Myrtle Foley (Gibson), and his former wife, Gloria Sevilla.

Tim and Gloria raised their children in Burlingame CA while Tim managed a San Francisco printing company (George Lithograph). He later became the Executive Director for Easter Seals Society of San Mateo County (now GatePath). In retirement, Tim treasured the annual Lake Tahoe family reunions with Gloria, his children and grandchildren, and other extended family who frequented these festive events.

Tim was an avid private pilot and owned several planes during his 50 yearplus flying career. Tim piloted 6 cross-country flights. He was an active member and served on the Board of the San Carlos Airport Chapter (Chapter 20) of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Air Squadron. Tim volunteered often at the Hiller Aviation museum. He also served as a pilot volunteer for EAA’s Young Eagles program, where Tim introduced flying to over 1000 youth. Tim ranks among the all-time top 75 pilots in the Young Eagles program.

We lost our beloved Dad, Tim Foley Sr., father, pilot, fixer of all things broken. He took his last flight as the sun rose. Tim was at peace during takeoff, ready to meet up with Gloria, and all who preceded him.

Visitation was on 3/11/2017 at Crosby N. Gray Funeral Home in Burlingame, followed by a private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
