Ruth Agnes Preskar

-

Surrounded by her loving family, Ruth passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Michael Preskar; loving mother of Michael Preskar (Georgiana), Christine Costagli (Anthony), Kathleen Burry, and Joanne Romano (Michael). Ruthie, as her loved ones knew her, left an amazing legacy. She was an adored grandmother of Stephen, Jennifer, Michael, Michelle, Amy, Gina, Joshua and Laura; who finally gave her the great-grandchildren she longed for, totaling twenty-three all under the age of ten.

Ruthie was a native San Franciscan who grew up in her mother’s boarding house on Washburn Street during the Great Depression. Priding herself to be a “tough cookie”, Ruthie fit right into her husband’s outdoor lifestyle, which was filled with hunting, fishing, and golfing. A former member of the Women’s Golf Group at the Olympic Club, Ruthie received numerous awards for her outstanding golf game, which she played well into her 80’s. Much like the women of her era, Ruthie inspired her family to continue to move forward through whatever hardships life brought to the table. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
