-

Roslyn (“Ronny”) Simon passed away peacefully, on March 9, 2017, at her Mission Hills Condo in Rancho Mirage, California, at the age of 87. A third generation San Franciscan, Ronny was born to Ralph and Minette Figel on May 11, 1929. She is predeceased by her parents; and, by her husband of 67 years, Donald S. Simon (“Don”), who had passed away just three months prior.

Ronny was a graduate of Lowell High School and attended the College of Marin. Her interests in fashion led her into a career in retailing starting at I. Magnin. After raising her family, she returned to work in fashion consulting with Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s. She was also active with various charitable organizations including the Florence Crittenden Home, Multiple Sclerosis Association of America; and, organizations for needy children. Ronny had interest in the arts, serving as President of San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary; and, docent at the De Young Museum and Legion of Honor.

Ronny and Don raised three children, Ann Pier (Frederick), Donald Simon Jr. (Katharine); and, Keith Simon (Mary Elizabeth) in San Francisco. Ronny and her family of five enjoyed an active lifestyle full of snow skiing and boating in Lake Tahoe; and, tennis and golf in the Bay Area. In 1984, when the family business, Serta Mattress Company, moved to Solano County, Ronny and Don moved to Green Valley. They continued to enjoy outdoor activities and began travelling extensively. They ultimately moved from Solano County and split their time between their home’s in Palm Desert and Rossmoor, California.

Ronny was a big presence in the Simon Family and they will forever remember her enthusiasm and her big heart. She will be missed by her brother, Ronald Figel (Mimi), her three children and spouses, nine grandchildren and spouses; and, three great grandchildren.

As per her wishes, the family will hold a private family gathering to celebrate her colorful life. She asked that her friends and family remember her through a passage written by Christina Rossetti, “When I am dead, my dearest, Sing no sad songs for me; Plant thou no roses at my head, Nor shady cypress tree: Be the green grass above me; With showers and dewdrops wet; And if thou wilt, remember, And if thou wilt, forget.”
