The Bay Area got a oneday break Saturday from the rain that swept through the region late last week, but more precipitation is probably on the way this weekend, forecasters said.

After a rainy Friday, Saturday was mostly clear and relatively comfortable with temperatures in the low 60s, said Bob Benjamin of the National Weather Service.

But the rain is likely to return Sunday, with showers bringing up to a quarter of an inch to the Bay Area.

The wet conditions Sunday will add to rain totals that already are above average for March.

On Friday, San Francisco received more than a half inch of rain, while other spots recorded between an inch to more than 2 inches, Benjamin said. The totals Friday already put San Francisco more than a half inch above normal for the entire month of March.

That falls in line with what’s been a particularly wet season — the city is already more than 6 inches above normal for the entire water year, which ends Sept. 30.

After some lingering showers Monday, the weather should turn warm and dry — temperatures nearing 70 degrees are expected by Tuesday in San Francisco.

“It’ll stay nice through Friday,” Benjamin said.

Meanwhile, up in the Sierra, more snow is on the way — 3 to 6 inches above 5,500 feet of elevation is predicted from Sunday into Monday, according to the National Water Service in Sacramento.
