Broadway star brings talents to S.F. cabaret

- — Lily Janiak

Christine Andreas has such distinctive, committed phrasing that when she alights on a note with a tender whisper, you can’t imagine anyone ever choosing to communicate at a different volume. Same goes for a moment later, when she’s at a pulsating belt; all other choices of register seem inconceivable.

On Sunday, April 2, audiences can appreciate the musicianship of the twotime Tony nominee (for “Oklahoma!” and “On Your Toes”) in an intimate, elegant setting, as part of Bay Area Cabaret’s series in the Venetian Room. In “be-Mused,” which also played at 54 Below in New York, Andreas gives her own spin to songs made famous by Edith Piaf, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, among many others.
