Girl assaulted: An arrest warrant has been issued for a second teenage boy in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old Chicago girl that was streamed live on Facebook, and further arrests are expected, police said Sunday. A day after announcing the arrest of a 14-year-old boy on sexual assault and child pornography charges, police said they were looking for a 15-year-old suspect in the March 19 attack, which investigators have said involved five or six males. Commander Brendan Deenihan said the victim knew one of the suspects, who lured her into a home of one of the offenders. Deenihan also said there were multiple cell phone videos made of the attack, not just the one streamed live on Facebook that was viewed by about 40 people — none of whom reported it.

Storm fatalities: A tornado demolished a mobile home in Breaux Bridge, La., killing a woman and her 3-year-old daughter Sunday. St. Martin Parish Sheriff ’s Office Maj. Ginny Higgins said Francine Gotch, 38, and Nevaeh Alexander, 3, were inside the trailer when the storm caused it to flipped over around 10:20 a.m. Witnesses said the father had gone to a grocery store before the storm occurred and came back to find the bodies. Parts of Arkansas and Mississippi were also under a threat of tornadoes, thunderstorms, large hail and flash flooding through Sunday night as the severe weather pushed east, forecasters said.

Motel death: Six people, including at least five children, remained hospitalized Sunday in good condition after a carbon monoxide leak the previous day in a Niles, Mich., hotel pool area that killed a 13-year-old boy. Niles Fire Department Mechanical Inspector Capt. Don Wise said an indoor pool heater had improper ventilation at the Quality Inn & Suites.

Tangled whales: Officials are asking boaters to be on the lookout for a gray whale caught in a crab trap heading north along Southern California’s coast. The whale was first spotted Saturday off Dana Point (Orange County). Capt. Frank Brennan, who was leading a whale watching tour at the time, says he saw what appeared to be a metal frame with lines attached around the animal’s head. It was spotted again later near Laguna Beach. Figures released last month showed a record number of whales getting tangled in crabbing gear off the U.S. West Coast. The Center for Biological Diversity cited 71 cases of whales caught in fishing lines off California, Oregon and Washington last year.

Oil leak: Alaska officials say an oil leak has been discovered in the Cook Inlet and a major oil and gas producer has shut down two of its platforms in the area. Hilcorp Alaska LLC workers first noticed an oil sheen and bubbling from underwater near the company’s Anna platform Saturday. The spill is on the west side of Cook Inlet, to the southwest of Anchorage. It was not clear how much oil is spilling into the inlet. Chronicle News
