Paul Douglas Tomassini, beloved, devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, friend, comedian, outdoorsman, songwriter, veteran, and true son of Northern California, passed away March 31st, 2017 at the age of 77. Born January 5th, 1940, in San Francisco and moved to Santa Rosa with his wife in 1966. Growing up, he spent most of his time at his family’s ranch in Sonoma or at the Salesian Boy’s Club in North Beach, San Francisco. A small business owner, Paul owned and operated Oceanic Pacific Marketing Inc. as a seafood broker, mentor, and friend to many, for over 40 years until his retirement in 2007. He shared a deep passion for travel with his wife Dorene, especially on cruise ships accompanied by his friends and family. Silly, creative, and witty; with a good joke or dirty song, Paul could bring a smile to any face. His passions included, golfing, bowling, cribbage; spinning stories during daily breakfasts with friends, and hosting the best 4th of July and Christmas Parties. Other than being at home in Rincon Valley, “Kaanapali Paul’s” favorite place to be was the Kaanapali Villas on the Island of Maui. If ever there was a human for whom the term, “larger than life” was not a cliché, it was Paul.

Paul is survived by his loving daughter’s Stace’ Nuhn, and Sheri Smith of Santa Rosa; his five grandchildren Andrew Tomassini, Jacob, Audrey, Cicely, and Daniel Smith; great-grandson Antonio; brother in-laws George L. Sully (Joan) and Jerry Twomey; sister in-law Diana Sully, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his loving care takers Clara and Vonnie. Paul was preceded by the love of his life, wife Dorene Tomassini; son Dan Tomassini, father Peter Tomassini, mother Dorothy Tomassini, brother Daniel Tomassini , brother in-law John Sully, sister in-law Suzanne Twomey; and nephew Michael Burrie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Paul’s life at 11:00am on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa. Because of Paul’s love of Hawaii, the family is encouraging guests to wear their favorite Hawaiian/casual attire. A reception will follow, and the location will be provided at the service.
