San Francisco police were working Wednesday to identify a person who fatally shot a 15year-old former Daly City high school student in what appeared to have been a targeted incident, officials said.

Reajon Jackson was shot and killed around noon Monday in the Outer Sunset District when someone opened fire on a white Pontiac he was driving, police said.

Police are searching for the driver of another car that witnesses reported seeing in the area at the time of the shooting, said Officer Giselle Talkoff of the San Francisco Police Department.

Reajon was driving near Sunset Boulevard and Kirkham Street when he was shot in the lower body, police said.

His car, punctured with bullet holes, was visible at the scene.

“At this point, we don’t think it’s as much of a public-safety issue. (Police are) maybe leaning more toward a targeted incident,” Talkoff said.

A 16-year-old boy was also in Reajon’s car at the time of the shooting, but he was not injured. Police are not releasing how Reajon is related to his passenger, Talkoff said.

Reajon was a 10thgrader at Jefferson High School in Daly City, but he left school in the fall, said Dan Burns, the superintendent of the Jefferson Union High School District.

Burns noted that Reajon did not drop out of school.

“This young man had many friends and family connected to Jefferson High,” Burns said in a statement.

Since the fatal shooting, counselors have been on campus to give grief support to students and staff at the school, Burns said.

“Part of the griefcounseling process at schools include having opportunities for students to write messages on poster paper,” Burns said.

Students are planning to deliver their messages of support and condolences to Reajon’s family, he added.
