SALT LAKE CITY — It is increasingly unlikely that Steve Kerr will return to the Warriors’ bench during the Western Conference semifinals.

Kerr did not fly with the team to Utah, leaving Mike Brown to coach Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday. A source close to the team told The Chronicle that, even if the matchup with the Jazz lasts six or seven games, Kerr probably won’t coach in this series.

Per an ESPN report, Kerr saw a specialist at Duke University Medical Center on Friday and received treatment to alleviate the chronic pain that forced him to step away from the sideline before Game 3 of the first round.

Brown, who has led Golden State to four straight wins as acting head coach, continues to communicate with Kerr daily.

“I think I call him too much because last time I called him, he wasn’t like, ‘Hey Mike, how’re you doing?’ ” Brown, chuckling, said after practice Friday. “It was like, ‘Can’t you figure it out by yourself ?’ I’m like, ‘You’re my boss! I’ve got to call you every once in a while.’ ” Green update: Warriors forward Draymond Green is probable for Game 3 of the semifinals Saturday, Golden State has announced.

Midway through the fourth quarter of Thursday’s Game 2 win, Green fell hard on the court after crashing into Jazz center Rudy Gobert. Green stayed down on the floor for a few minutes before heading to the training room. With less than two minutes left, Green returned to help Golden State stave off Utah.

“I knew my knee was just locking up a little bit,” Green said after the game. “I had it before, a little tweak. It wasn't like a huge sigh of relief, because I kind of knew what it was from the jump. But obviously it's always good to know you're OK.”

After a light practice Friday, Brown said of Green, “In my mind, he’s playing” in Game 3.
