Barbara Leonard Hassing

-

Barbara Leonard Hassing, a third generation San Franciscan, was born on June 4, 1926 to Weston and Nita Wooldrige and died at the age of 90 on April 27, 2017. She is survived by her four children, Thomas (Laura) Dunn, Kathy (Bob) Lindsey, Robert Dunn, and Joan Esclamado and seven grandchildren: Sean “Malu” Lindsey, Lono (Kara) Lindsey, Imiola (Bianca) Lindsey, Ryan (Julie) Dunn, Emily Dunn, Katie (Travis) Curtis, and Nicole (Red) Feola, eight loving great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Noreen Dunn and Sister William Eileen, D.C.

Barbara was married to Edwin Dunn, followed by a second marriage to Oliver “Joe” Hassing in 1962. All of her family has many fun-filled memories of their “Nana” as she survived rugged white-water-rafting trips, weathered camping outings in the mountains she so loved, and served up many family dinners that included lots of laughter and joy.

Barbara, a 1943 graduate of Lowell High School and a member of the San Francisco State Alpha Omega Society, was the secretary treasurer of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Federal Credit Union for over 40 years and developed many friendships with the Recreation & Park management and the rank and file. Many a member received a loan based on Barbara’s “feelings” that the member would pay the loan back on time (which they did)!

The family would like to thank Vintage Cypress in caring with her Alzheimer condition. Any donations to our mother’s memory may be made to Hospice for their benefit. Services will be private pursuant to her wishes.
