Matthew Sloan Hamill

Matthew Sloan Hamill passed away unexpected­ly in San Francisco on the morning of April 24, 2017. He was the youngest son of Tim and Catherine Hamill of Tiburon. He leaves his brothers Andrew (Stephanie) and Scott (Michelle) and his twin nephews Connor Tim and Grant Hartwell Hamill. He also leaves his much loved aunt, uncle and cousins. He was predecease­d by his Dibble Grandparen­ts and his Uncle Douglas Dibble (Susan).

Matthew was raised in Mill Valley attending local schools. His high school years he commuted to San Francisco where he graduated from Sterne School. He also attended schools in Louisiana where he developed a lasting fondness for Cajun music, culture and cuisine.

In 1995 Matthew graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. He then worked as a chef for restaurant­s and food providers in Marin and San Francisco.

Matthew enjoyed living in San Francisco. He walked from one end of the City to the other. He frequented museums and searched for neighborho­od restaurant­s to experience. He was a third generation member of the Mechanics Institute Library.

Matthew felt privileged to work as a Supervisor and Food Coordinato­r for the Veterans’ community in the Presidio. He greatly enjoyed both his work and friendship­s there.
