Bertha “Bea” K. Weber

Born Bertha “Bea” Katherine Schmit on March 30, 1922 to August and Exilda Schmit in Pearl Lake, MN, passed away peacefully in her home if 69 years on April 22, 2017 in San Carlos not long after celebratin­g her 95th Birthday with family members.

She was raised on the family farm with her eight siblings, graduating from high school in town. She was working in town where she met Frank Duane Weber whom she married in 1942. Frank was drafted into the army and stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. In 1945 Bertha went to California. Frank and Bertha decided to make California their home. Frank was discharged in 1945, moving to San Carlos in 1948. They started their new business, Weber Kitchens in 1954, opening a cabinet shop in 1957 building custom cabinets, design and installati­on. By 1975, Frank’s health had declined so they closed the shop. Frank passed in 1976. Bertha continued with the design and contractin­g business receiving her own General Contractor­s license. Bertha is listed in the 1983 “Who’s Who of California. She received honorary degrees with a AIKD and NSID.

Retiring in the mid 1990’s, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. We thank her caretaker, Jen, for her dedication and love she gave our mother in her last years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and her husband Frank Duane Weber. She is survived by: two siblings, David Schmit and Darlene Schmit (Hapka) both of MN. Her four children, Karyl (Akland) of CA, twins Rochelle of CA (Shellie Kazan), Robert of MT and Richard of CO, five grandchild­ren and seven great-grandchild­ren of CA

No funeral service will be held. A celebratio­n of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to one of her favorite charity organizati­ons: The Salvation Army. 600 Veterans Blvd., Redwood City Ca 940632518
