She is preceded in death by her parents Bertil and Mary and her daughter Margie.

Barbara was the embodiment of generosity and kindness. She truly was the essence of goodness-as was obvious to everyone who met her. She spent her life living her faith by giving to others, volunteering at church, the Bay Area Crisis Nursery, the Mt. Diablo Peace Center and Lafayette School in Oakland.

Along with her husband Norman, she modeled what true love and respect mean. Barbara’s first priority was always her family, starting at 25 years old when she married Norman and his 5 children and continuing through the birth of their daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She gave her time and love to her family, whether babysitting, teaching or playing. She knew how to listen and be present for any conversation.

A celebration of Barbara’s exceptional life will be held on May 26th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill at 11:30am followed by a reception at the Pleasant Hill Community Center.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Redwood City Catholic Worker House or the Parkinson Network of Mt. Diablo.
