Quakes can’t keep up momentum in Colorado

The Earthquakes had a chance to leap from fifth place to a tie for second in the Western Conference and build on a modest two-game winning streak when they ran into the buzzsaw that was Shkelzen Gashi.

The Quakes (4-4-3) barely challenged U.S. national team goalkepper Tim Howard, who needed to make only two saves to notch the shutout for Colorado (2-6-1).

The Quakes host Orlando City on Wednesday night at Avaya Stadium.
