Thomas Xavier “Tom” Welch Sr.

Tom was a San Francisco native who moved to Bremerton, Washington in 1973, he is preceded in death by his parents Mary Letitia Duggan Welch and John Thomas “Jack” Welch and his sister Sarah “Sally” Letitia Welch Bullock.

Tom is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Welch; his children, Dawn (Eric) Gaffney, Dennis Welch, Jeanette (Mark) Merod and Tom Jr. (Amanda) Welch; nine grandchild­ren; his brother, Bill (Betty) Welch and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A graduate of Archbishop Riordan High School, class of 1956, A U. S. Air Force Veteran, member of the National Guard (having been activated during the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in 1980), American Legion post 200 in Belfair, Washington, Tom owned businesses over the years in the Bremerton area. He was known by his friends and co-workers for his kindness and helpful nature.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his friends and family. He had a unique sense of humor and a great chuckle. He loved the latest and greatest technology had to offer.

In his retirement, Tom volunteere­d for the Kitsap Crisis Line as a call receiver and CASA as a Children’s Advocate. He was a past member of both the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce and The Bremerton Rotary. He was most recently active and passionate about his work with the American Legion post 200 in Belfair, WA.

A Rosary and funeral Mass were offered at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Bremerton, WA on Thursday, May 11th, Burial with Military honors was on Friday, May 12th at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
