Frank Roger Battaglia

Passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

A native San Franciscan, he was raised in the Excelsior District. Graduate of Balboa High School class of 1945. Born on October 19, 1927 to Vincenzo Battaglia and Jeanne Marie Louise Bouillon Battaglia. Beloved husband of Lilia Vannucci Battaglia who preceded him in death in 2005 after 55 years of marriage. Loving father of Jean (Bob) Borella, and Joyce (Bob) Guglielmi. He will be sorely missed by his cherished grandchildren: Marc (Cheryl) Borella, Tony (Bently) Guglielmi, Lauren (John) Walker, Andrew (fiance’ Lauren Kingsley) Guglielmi, and Gina Guglielmi. Great-grandfather to: Giuliana, Jackson, Gemma and Olivia Guglielmi, Anthony Borella & Gemma Walker. Preceded in death by his sister, Susan Clark. Brother-in-law to Anita Boragno. Uncle Frank to many nieces and nephews.

Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. LST 611. A former member of the Salesian Boys’ and Girls’ Club, Lifetime Member of the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, Life Member of United Association Local 38. He enjoyed opera music, fishing and gardening in his Sonoma garden. He shared his bounty of fruits and vegetables with friends and family alike. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Gabriel Church, 2559 40th Avenue, San Francisco at 11 am, Thursday May 25, 2017. Committal Italian Cemetery, 540 F Street, Colma.
